What is the deposit, and what extra charges apply?

This guide explains Agtran's car rental deposit and pricing: what the deposit is, how much it is, when it is refunded, what the rental price includes, and the extra charges that can apply.
What a Deposit Is
A car rental deposit is a security amount collected before the vehicle is handed over. It helps protect against possible additional costs during the rental. The deposit is not part of the rental fee, and it is returned after the vehicle comes back in good condition with no outstanding charges.
Why a Deposit Is Required
A deposit helps cover possible costs during the rental, such as vehicle damage, late return, missing fuel, or unpaid charges. Understanding the deposit policy before pickup helps avoid confusion and makes the rental smoother.
How Much Is the Deposit
For Agtran, the standard deposit is RM350. It is collected as a security amount before the vehicle is handed over, and is separate from the rental fee. Before confirming your booking, check the deposit amount, the accepted payment method, the refund conditions, and any additional charges that may apply. Before booking, also make sure you have the documents needed to rent a car ready.
When the Deposit Is Refunded
After the vehicle is returned, Agtran checks its condition and confirms there are no outstanding charges before releasing the deposit. The process depends on the payment method:
- Debit card: the pre-authorisation release starts 7 days after the pickup date. After it is processed, it may take up to 20 days to appear in your account, depending on your bank.
- Credit card: no amount is blocked for pre-authorisation.
Please keep your payment details and rental records until the refund is complete.
What the Rental Price Includes
The quoted price covers the vehicle rental for your selected dates, and Basic CDW coverage according to the rental terms.
Extra charges (not included in the standard price)
- Security deposit: RM350
- Unlimited mileage: RM45 per day (optional)
- Additional driver: RM15 per person per day
- Extra mileage: RM2 per km after exceeding the 200 km limit for the entire rental period (not per day)
- Fuel charge: RM25 per fuel bar if the vehicle is returned with less fuel than agreed
- Late return charges
- Vehicle delivery or collection, if requested
- Toll charges incurred during the rental
You should also understand your rental car insurance options, including coverage, excess charges, and protection plans, before starting your journey.
